Scrapbooking is something that, 4 years ago, I was obsessed with. I still love it, and I think about doing it often, but I don't make time for it the way that I used to. I even still have a problem where I often find myself in Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Archivers buying scrapbooking supplies I KNOW i won't use in months, quite often.

And as far as crafting goes, I have become accustomed to mastering only the initial part of a craft and then moving on to the next. For example, I taught myself how to knit, I can do the knit stitch, and the purl stitch- but I've never actually knitted anything except for a headband. The same goes for crocheting. That's something that I appreciate about scrapbooking, is that I can set down and have a page finished in 20 minutes if that's what i choose to do.

So that's what i did a little while ago, and while i feel like the page is missing something, it is done for now. My cousin, Paula, got married last May, and this is my favorite picture that i took.

I never forget i have this blog, and i usually want to blog. But when my eyes are tired, i just can't bring myself to do anything else except looking at other blogs and then fall asleep.

Christmas was really nice this year, but I'm super thankful that it's over. My parents got a divorce when I was 17, and to be quite honest- the holiday haven't felt the same since then. Being able to be with all of my family, all day (no matter how dysfunctional) was definitely something i took for granted. Christmas feels like work at some points, and that's not what it's supposed to be about. Christmas is supposed to be about the gifts right? Just kidding, but while we rejoice in the season, i think we can all agree that making, giving and getting gifts is the funnest part. I am willing to put that out there, and not feel the least bit ashamed about it.

I put together more than one of these headbands, as last minute gifts for a couple family members, and friends. Super easy, and honestly super cute.

I also made 3 of these earring holders out of frames, and window screen.

a couple of my favorite handmade gifts that I received this year would have to be the candle that my bfl (bestieforlife) made, and the lemon infused vodka that my other bfl made. (it tastes like lemon water. bad news!)

and last but not least, my favorite store bought gifts. both from my mom, both things that i've wanted.

and last but not least, after flying to atlanta for 4 days, and then not being home much because of so many things going on...spending time with this guy. you would probably be disgusted with how much i missed him!

i was really getting a lot better about blogging on a more regular basis. and here i am, a couple weeks late (just like me). besides working and schooling, i have been keeping myself busy.

where do i even begin, with regards to smashing? I first saw it on Elizabeth Kartchners blog. then I friday i found myself browsing my local archivers, which is usually a store I don't buy a lot in, but just go to look at all the pretty paper. I was almost to the checkout counter with only one peice of paper and a booklet of amy tangerine stickers when I spotted them. A whole little smash section. I looked at them all, then pulled out the one with pink binding.

and this was the first page i turned to, of course I couldn't resist. not only are the pages inside beautiful, the idea of having a place for all the things that i don't want to throw away, but don't have a place for is enticing in and of itself.

just a few examples.

i am super excited about having a place for the hundreds of post it's, little pieces of paper, doodles, quotes, and so on that i have been hanging on to for years.

This weekend i made three very successful thrift store runs, i don't remember the last time i found so many things that i had been dreaming about finding!

For Christmas last year my mom bought me a new sewing machine, and over the last month i have finally busted it out. While I enjoy fabric shopping, i generally encounter two problems 1. It's expensive, I'm cheap. 2. I rarely find anything I really like. So while thrifting this weekend I found a mountain of vintage sheets and pillow cases that I plan on using for quite a few christmas presents. I have a rule that most of the time i don't just buy something because i like it, i try to wait until I see something I can't leave without. That was every piece of material i bought from the thrift store. All under $7.00.

I have wanted to do this for a while, because of both my love for fall and my sad obsession with makeup products. When i first graduated high school i was obsessed with MAC, but since living on my own i have learned to love cheaper brands, only splurging occasionally. I've compiled a list (with poorly taken photos) of my fall favorites. What are yours?

Korres Lip Butter Glaze in Rasberry. $14.

In the winter and fall my skin and lips get very dry, that's one of the reasons i love this. It say's right on the tube that its moisturizing, and they ain't lying!

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Siren. $4-6.00.

Do you ever find something that makes you feel confident? That's what Siren does for me, the formula is creamy enough that i never feel like i need to put lipgloss over it.

NYX Eyeshadow in Iced Mocha. $4.99.

I love NYX eye shadow's, their colors are generally original and the price is unbeatable. Iced Mocha and True Taupe are two of my fall faves.

Wet n' Wild Eyeshadow Pallet in Comfort Zone. $4.99.

If you haven't realized that Wet n' Wild is no longer the "you get what you pay for" brand, wake up! This pallet is only $4.99 at just about any drug store. The color payoff is just as good as any high end brand, and if you're new to makeup they give you plenty of ideas of how to wear the 8 colors that are included in this pallet. I can't say enough good things about this pallet, I love it!

Glamour Doll Eyeshadow in Graves in May and Boyfriend Sweater.

Glamour Doll Eyes is an essentially handmade makeup by Vee, who owns the company. Apparently she is sick right now, so most of the site is down, but check back because there are some really great colors, and most are available in sample jars. And they are definitely inexpensive but i can't remember exactly how much the sample jars were, something like $2-3.00 a piece. (and it always feels great to support the little guys!)

China Glaze is one of my favorite nail polish brands, they last quite a long time with a good topcoat, and at Sally's Beauty Supply they are around $5.00.

i always have good intentions. i always WANT to blog, but i always end up playing spider solitaire for a ridiculous amount of time.

i have been only a little creative lately- i'm trying to motivate and inspire myself...but just having the hardest time.

when one of friends birthdays popped up and i was unprepared (as usual) gift wise, i whipped this little puppy up in an hour or so. a multi-layered card/gift. i'm really happy with how it turned out.

i think she really liked it!

I guess i'm staying in tonight, and if that's the case that would mean a whole weekend in. Its been a while since that has happened. Lets hope i can stop watching The First 48 long enough to be productive.

this weekend i watched one of my cousins get married. when i was younger i was with my cousins nearly every day in the summer(s)-that being said, they are more like brothers and sisters to me than cousins. i was so happy for her that the day she had been preparing so hard for, turned out so beautifully.

rain was feared, but thankfully didn't come until around 9pm!

i've been going to school forever, but i'm finally on the path to doing what i want to do, only a couple more math classes and i'll be able to transfer to UMKC. that being said, i've been so busy with working full time and going to school part time that i haven't been a very good blogger(or a blogger at all).

besides homework and work-work, this is what i've been up too.

currently lounging around after a quick trip to target. i bought some sharpies im pretty excited about.

this week i changed my life, many thanks to this. action packed weekend planned, my mom is spending the night tonight, we are gonna eat and drink margs with one of my favorite pals, so excited. im so thankful that over the past year my mom and i have gotten so much closer. do you ever look at someone elses mom, or you see a kid with his mom ands she's mean, or gross, and get so thankful that you got your mom, rather than that mom? does that make sense? you got it.

im about have through the 6th harry potter book, im not ready for it to be over.

today i tried the new mocha toffee drink at starbucks. it was ok.

im gonna take a lot of pictures of all the food i eat tonight, and post them, and it will make you jealous. even though you change your life doesn't mean you can't have a night where you really enjoy yourself.

i feel an intense need to blog tonight, i decided to stay in tonight- which i usually try to avoid, because me + alone = me thinking to much about things i don't want to think about.

it's not often i say anything to significant on this thing, but i feel like tonight's the night.

lately i've been thinking

1. that when it comes to certain old friends I can only reach out to them so much until i have to stop. how long do you put yourself out there to people who are to "busy"( well arn't we all, welcome to adulthood where part of your life is juggling everything you HAVE to do, and still make time for people).

2. that i might be single forever. i feel like i was bitten by a snake, and now im scared to really put myself out there. i think i need counseling.

3. teddy is really the best cat ever. recently he used his litter box in a moving car.

4.one of the best moments of my life happened recently when i got to meet Bryce Avary (therocketsummer) and he noticed my tattoo, and seemed blown away and said "wow". i couldn't say anything for a long time, until i thanked him for all that he does, and almost started crying. what a dork...

5. watching someone very close to me fall in love for the first time has been weird for me.

6. i need to eat good again, im out of control.

7. my apartment is feeling more like a home than ever, my goal this week is to finish up my room and get my curtains hung and my desk ready for creating. its time (pictures to come).

8. i want a pen pal.

9. winning a "pink" blog giveaway recently made my month.

10. having a crush on unattainable guys are my favorite kind- no crash. no burn.

recently surprised my oldest/best friend, by popping up in atlanta when she wasn't expecting it. she always tell me to move there, and i definitely could. do you have that kind of friend?

we went to some really fun vintage stores while we there, in downtown athens.

looking back, i can't believe i didn't buy the hulkamania magazine.

bought this ring at a store called agora. it was suuuuper cute in there, and the owner was so fun, dropping prices like they were hot!

also went to warped tour a couple of weeks ago, it was the hottest day of my life, but worth it when i got to meet Bryce Avary. who noticed my tattoo and said, "wow". i nearly cried.

gaaaaaaaaaaad, made my year. thank god for best friend(s), who was there to document the entire thing.

moved from the house to this apartment, the weekend before last. thank God for my family and best friend- all together i had 10 or 11 people helping me and my cousin move! it was quick- which moving sometimes isn't. still a little (a lot) messy, but it's starting to feel like home around here.

1. my car experienced some technical difficulties (which my dad was able to fix; thank gad).
2. i downloaded a virus on my computer- i took it too some "it specialists", a week later they are saying they can't even look at it because it needs new power jack (which i told them to replace) and they're telling me it may cost around $230.00 dollars, and they don't know when i'll get it back.

it is seriously ice cold here in kansas city. like bitterly cold.

its a night for hot chocolate, and knitting. peeerrrfect.

yesterday my father, brother, step mom and nephews went hunting for my dads christmas tree, it are little family tradition...Toms really let us down this year...the only tree's that were really pretty, were huuugge. like clark griswald huge.

the boys favorite part was clearly the little pieces of logs that were lying around everywhere.

a cute little time had by all!

now its time for hot chocolate and my favorite show, intervention.

sadly, this year i don't have the money to splurge on a dreamy pink christmas tree, so will use the greeny that is at my disposal. it will be cute none the less.

now...

i couldn't find a good full body shot now, but take note of the fanny pack. i feel like that's what really matters about this picture. anyways...i started losing weight in february...but by this summer i fell off the wagon and gained a few pounds back. then i didn't work for about a month and gained a few more pounds...i'm trying to be optimistic and be happy that i didn't gain more than 7. But im back on the wagon and hope to stay motivated to ignore all restaurants with drive-thrus.

hopefully all of these christmas gifts that i am making will keep my mind busy....food and i are like a bad relationship, we love each other- but we are so bad for one another!

let operation weight-loss begin again!

my precious teddy turns three at some point this month, i picked the 7th to be his birthday. it was lovely, i think he really enjoyed his birthday fancy feast.

my weekend was pretty great, i feel like i got a lot accomplished. including...

i love baking cupcakes. i think i enjoy looking at them more than i enjoy eating them.

i need to start working on christmas presents, trying to do all handmade gifts this year...we'll see how that goes!

on Saturday i tried to teach myself how to knit, via youtube. it didn't work so well... anyone have any good video's they can recommend???

last week the roomie and i went to meet her uncle at the hotel he was staying at, on the plaza.

when we drove up we saw a tour bus...and then i saw mark hoppus sitting outside of the hotel. i nearly urinated all over myself.

this weekend is going to be incredibly action packed. tomorrow muzzleloader/showbread show, friday blink 182/weezer show, saturday my cousin moves to Kansas City and completes my new pad as the third and final roommate. also saturday is bff/roomie1's birthday bash, and the next day there is some sort of hang over barbecue. HUH?!

i have finally started to take the time to put small decorative touches on "brownie" (what we call our cute house)...by the door, i found bowl at the goodwill (throw my sunglasses and keys in it) and the little white cork board at a thrift store as well. put one of my favorite Rocket Summer song on it.
on the dining room table, flowers from our flower garden in the front yard.

part of what is hanging over the couch, found the God is welcome here embroidery picture at THE BEST thrift store, Blackwell's in Kansas City. a lot of other randoms i've found at thrift stores and flea markets. i kind of love it, makes me feel like home.
in our breakfast nook we have this random built in white shelf, i've filled it with vintage cups like these. oh, and my rubber duck collection.

more to come, still trying to do cute things- i want to hang a couple of small cute prints in the bathroom, but i don't know what. have any ideas- what's hanging in your bathroom?

p.s. my cat weighs 17 pounds and insists on climbing on me and "making biscuits" on my face...it hurts, i mean he has claws. but he is so cute, i just let him do it.

what a weekend...

over the weekend i helped a friend move out of his apartment in Oklahoma City...he had been gone for three months. at some point over the three months his refrigerator broke, in the freezer were salmon and chicken. before this, i really thought i had a iron stomach. the second we opened her up to attempt to clean it, i quickly learned how wrong i was. we had even tried to take the necessary steps to be prepared, by wearing some sort of sars masks, wearing yellow dish washing gloves, and chewing fruit stripe.

we got it cleaned, but...it was the sickest thing i have ever done. i can't get that rancid smell out of my head.

on the ride home, there was no place to put his stuffed chicken except for in between the bff and i... it's surprising how many people thought we had a well behaved, tamed chicken.

i really need to get the creative juices flowing. school starts tomorrow....yipeeandyikesallatthesametime.

i like to play a game called, "spend all weekend having fun, and then all of monday night catching up on cleaning and laundry". i need to stop, i really really do.

im a little embarrassed to post that pic (not just because i look dumb in it), but because im sure the painting isn't good- it was supposed to look like her hair was blowing in the wind...im not sure that came across. oh well, it was fun!

all these episodes of life goes on are making me teary eyed!

not only do i love Eisley, but I love the cute and artsy photos that Sherri DuPree takes. my favorites...

Basically I can't stop listening to "here it goes" by jimmy eat world...my current jam.

For the last 7 months i have been completely uninspired and only scrapped, around christmas time, when i made an album for my brother. It figures that as soon as May came, and i have tons of stuff to do (im moving at the end of the month, and am quite possibly the worst packer ever, so i need this entire month to pack) i get completely inspired and have been on a scrapping/ drawing/ painting rampage for the last two weeks.

a couple of recent pages:

i found my first grade class picture the other day, when i was packing up my scrap room...i love scrapping old pictures!

shout out to 2008- worst year of my life...

The last weekend of may i will move for the fourth time in four years...i hate moving. but I'm sure no one likes it...something i've discovered is that me "packing" is actually me just making a huge mess, and then taking a break to scrap...or paint.

also, i can't stop drink mc'donalds carmel iced coffee. all that sugar can't be good for the weight loss, but is soooo good for the taste buds.
